The Scent Library - Silk Routes
An olfactory journey along the routes that, in the eighties, connected the Emirates to Africa and Asia through goods, cultures, and new influences.
Part of The Scent Library's Generation Collection, Silk Routes pays homage to the Emirati merchants who traversed continents, building relationships and creating bridges between different worlds. Master Perfumer Kevin Mathys translates this story into a deep and essential composition, built around the character of leather and the allure of exotic materials encountered along the journey.
The opening is entrusted to osmanthus, a flower with an intense, sweet, and fruity scent, with characteristic nuances reminiscent of ripe apricot and peach pulp, accompanied by floral, honeyed, and delicately creamy accents. It thus naturally introduces the intense heart of the composition, where leather becomes the absolute protagonist, defining the bold and sophisticated identity of Silk Routes. At the base, tonka bean softens the structure with a warmer and more enveloping nuance, leaving a deep and lingering trail.
Like the other chapters of the Generation Collection, Silk Routes also preserves an element of Emirati tradition in its creation process: the Extrait de Parfum is left to mature for nine weeks in traditional Alhab clay vessels, once used in the Emirates to store water and reinterpreted here as part of the olfactory process.
With a 25% concentration of perfume oils and a production limited to only 100 bottles worldwide, Silk Routes tells, through fragrance, an era of exploration, trade, and cultural exchange.
